Board Meeting Minutes

Call to Order – The monthly board meeting was called to order by President Steve at 12:16 pm.

Attendance – A quorum was declared with the following officers and directors in attendance: Christine Cote, Pat Danielson, Joe Kennish, Dan Marples, Steve Pickett, Stan Pratt, Louise Tabayoyon, John Warren, and KL Wombacher. Active members in attendance were John Benson, Rich Lewis, Mel Light, and Mike Wilson. Others in attendance were new members Sharen Allbee and Jerry Findley and special guest Lt. Governor Darlene Green.

Minutes Approved – Pat moved and Joe seconded to approve the December 1st meeting minutes as presented. Motion carried.

Lt. Governor Darlene Green – Pres. Steve introduced Lt. Gov. Darlene who thanked the club for our financial support which will help to cover costs of her official duties and travels, as well for our financial support to the Governor’s project. She reminded the board to report our 3 yr. club goals and membership growth plans. Darlene invited members to consider serving in the position of Lt. Governor following Roger Bell’s term in 2006-2007.

Financial Statements – Louise distributed the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss Budget Comparison reports for both Administration & Community Services for the period dated Oct-Dec 2005. She reported that for the 1st time, 100% of the International dues will be due and payable in February.

Announcements – Pres. Steve shared the following correspondence received: Thank you note from Governor Steve Emhoff for our $1500 contribution to his Governor Project to the Burn Foundation, an invitation from Baker Boyer Bank to their new facility open house scheduled on January 25th, a funding request from the Ike Band for their trip to Italy in March 2007, and other incidental items.

New Member – Stan moved and Dan seconded to approve Greg Spurgin’s application for membership effective 01/01/06. Motion carried. Sponsors are Russ Roberts & David Lees.

Secretary/Treasure Position – Mike presented the budget committee’s study findings and recommendation to split the Secretary/Treasurer position to a “no salary with dues paid” position. The study included comparisons of PNW clubs with 75+ members, Yakima membership counts from 1991-2005, Yakima budgets from 1996-2004, and project service hours reported. Furthermore, a decision should be made by May 1st to be considered in the spring election of officers and new year budget planning. Mel moved and Pat seconded to table the board’s decision for one month to allow time to make the issue known to the general membership and to allow membership discuss and input on the committee’s recommendation. Motion carried.

Yakima Club 85th Anniversary – Mel reported that our celebration will be held on February 14th at the Harmon Center. Dinner will be catered by Evie’s Catering and music will be provided by Paul Tilley. Tickets will be $30 for active member couples. Tickets will be available soon.

Split the Pot 50/50 – Jerry introduced a fundraising card game which can add more fun and more money to our administrative budget. Joe moved and KL seconded to adopt the new 50/50 draw card game one week after announcing it at next week’s meeting. Motion passed.

Adjournment – With no other business at hand, the meeting was adjourned at 1:30 pm
